PREMIER BASKETBALL LEAGUE RELEASES 2009 SCHEDULE
(Chicago, IL)… The Premier Basketball League (PBL) is pleased to release the 2009 schedule, featuring its thirteen teams playing 130 games over three months.
Three games on Friday January 2, 2009, will start the season. The first tip-off will take place in Battle Creek, Michigan, as the Battle Creek Knights host the Chicago Throwbacks at 7:00 p.m. at Kellogg Arena. The day’s two other contests will take place in Canada, as the Quebec Kebs welcome the Halifax Rainmen, and the Montreal Sasquatch opens their season at the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre against the Manchester Millrats.
The 2008 Premier Basketball League champion Rochester RazorSharks will defend their title on the road, visiting the Augusta Groove on Saturday, January 3. The Sharks will return to their home court one week later, as they welcome the Buffalo Stampede to the Blue Cross Arena on January 10.
Of the 130 games scheduled this season, over 110 of the contests will be weekend affairs, with games played on Friday night, Saturday or Sunday.
The Premier League’s teams will play in one of three divisions - the Atlantic Division will consist of the Halifax (N.S.) Rainmen, Manchester (N.H.) Millrats, Vermont Frost Heaves, Montreal Sasquatch and Quebec Kebs. The Eastern Division will be home to the Rochester RazorSharks, Buffalo Stampede, Augusta Groove and Wilmington (N.C.) Sea Dawgs. The third division, the Central Division, will have the Chicago Throwbacks, Detroit Panthers, Mid-Michigan Destroyers and Battle Creek (Mich.) Knights.
